The sound of music

Life's simple lessons & learnings can come unannounced and from unassuming people, the other day my music teacher was explaining the objectivity and understanding of music to me. "What is Music ?", he implored me. Considering myself to be quite a music aficionado, i blabbered about sound, the seven notes, rhythm etc. In all diplomacy, he didn't dismiss my answer as there is never a perfectly wrong or a perfectly correct answer. Anyways, i stood there awaiting THE answer which in time to come, would eventually coax me to create a blogger id.

In all its truthfulness and reality, Music, he enlightened me was 1 part Sound and 1 part Silence, mixed together in a proportion. And there it was, in that instant, i felt i attained one of my many fleeting nirvanas, it felt like i understood the true meaning of music. Voila! The magnanimity of sound can only be appreciated if there is silence to compliment it. Strangely by my own application of unitary method and analogy replication, it felt that right there in front of me was the thesis-antithesis theory of coexistence being proposed. The master can and only exist if there is a slave, likewise the good can only exist if there is bad to compliment it.

Without the contrast of hues and colours in a painting, the aritst cannot create a painting. And yet so it is through the inevitability of death, the beauty of life can be truly felt. And to think of it, it was supposed to be a music class.
